An illustrated online seminar where we will talk about Christmas, Stephen’s Day, New Year and winter solstice traditions from the Celtic countries.

The Celtic regions have a wide variety of traditions around Christmas, New Year, and the northern-hemisphere winter solstice. In this illustrated webinar, we will explore some of those traditions, ranging across the centuries from pre-Christian to modern times, and across the Celtic regions of Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Brittany, Cornwall and the Isle of Man. Join us to learn more about the traditions of outdoor dancing, singing and practical jokes, Christmas decorations particular to the different Celtic groups, and traditional tales for the time of year. We will conclude the webinar with Christmas greetings in the six modern Celtic languages.
