SOLAS is a new mental health support service developed by the Irish Support Agency to facilitate access to essential Mental Health supports for our community. SOLAS is a subsidised counselling service open to all members of the Irish Australian community living in NSW. A fully subsidised service is available to those experiencing financial hardship.

  • Speak to your GP (telehealth sessions are widely available)

  • Contact us for support, referrals, and information about access to services.

  • Contact a support network, there are many mental health lines in Australia and back in Ireland.

Beyond Blue - 1300 22 4636 - Beyond Blue provides information and support to help everyone in Australia achieve their best possible mental health, whatever their age and wherever they live.

Head to Health - Head to Health can help you find digital mental health services from some of Australia’s most trusted mental health organisations.

Provided by the Australian Department of Health, Head to Health brings together apps, online programs, online forums, and phone services, as well as a range of digital information resources.

Helplink Mental Health - Irish Abroad Online Counselling Service - This global service provides culturally sensitive counselling support to Irish citizens living abroad and returning home from living abroad with their emotional support needs; 7 days a week.

Lifeline - 13 11 14- A national charity providing all Australians experiencing emotional distress with access to 24 hour crisis support and suicide prevention services.

Mental health access line- 1800 011 511 - The Mental Health Line is available to everyone in NSW and operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It is staffed by mental health professionals who will ask questions to determine if you or, the person you are concerned about, needs ongoing mental health care and how urgently it is needed.

They can put you in contact with the most relevant mental health service for children, teens, adults, and older people.

Men’s Shed - funded by the Federal Department of Health, Men’s Shed provides practical support and delivers a wide range of services, aims to improve the health and wellbeing of members and reduce the number of men who are at risk from preventable health issues that may emanate from isolation.

Samaritans Ireland - 1800 570 699 - Samaritans, in partnership with the Government of Ireland through the Emigrant Support Programme, have been working together to provide 24-hour Freephone access to the Samaritans helpline in Ireland for Irish people in Australia.

THIS WAY UP - THIS WAY UP is run by clinical psychologists, psychiatrists, researchers, and web technicians based at the Clinical Research Unit for Anxiety and Depression (CRUfAD) – a joint facility of St Vincent’s Hospital and the University of New South Wales.
